Electrical Service Technician

Overview of role

The main purpose of this role is to install components, carry out maintenance, diagnose faults and generate reports on ENERCON wind turbines. 

Working as part of a two or three-person team, you will travel to our sites across the region. You will climb wind turbines on a daily basis and therefore it is necessary to ensure that you are fit climb and work at height on a regular basis.  

The role requires a proactive, motivated and resourceful team player for this challenging and exciting position. The ability to work to strict deadlines and finish work to the highest standard is required. From time to time, we may require you to travel around the UK to assist other teams during busy periods.

Main Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations of ENERCON Services UK:

•    Work from a specific location and service wind energy convertors (WEC’s) in a specific area
•    Carry out all electrical tasks required for the maintenance and proper operation of the WEC’s in a professional and efficient manner
•    Climb wind turbines regularly and ensure all training and certificates in regards to climbing are in date 
•    Produce all necessary paper and digital reports for supervisors and management on a weekly and monthly basis
•    Ensure completion of all electrical maintenance schedules efficiently and on time
•    Fault finding and reporting on electrical equipment
•    Installation and retrofitting of key electrical components
•    Carry out risk assessments and method statements when necessary
•    Ensure that you maintain excellent communication between In-house Technicians and the Service Coordinator, and report any issues or concerns promptly for rectification
•    Take responsibility for your van’s stock, i.e. checking stock, receipting stock and returning stock that is not required 
•    Be proactive when booking materials out from the critical van stock breakdown boxes (CVS B.Boxes), to ensure the efficiency of stock replenishment
•    Once qualified to do so, carry out necessary work with 35KV (High voltage) switching and perform any duty surrounding HV at the request of the Company
•    Adhere to all relevant health and safety requirements
•    You will be proactive and communicative about any issues which may prevent your ability to perform the role

Secondary Responsibilities: 
•    Assist in mechanical tasks as and when required
•    Maintain the highest standards of work and courtesy when dealing with customers
•    Be prepared to travel and stay for durations for 2/3 weeks away from your private residence if necessary

•    When and where necessary, travel to WEC sites throughout the UK, Germany and possibly elsewhere in Europe.
•    Read all TSI and other documents relevant to the position

Mandatory Training Courses: 
As an Electrical Technician, you will be required to undertake, and successfully pass, all relevant and necessary training courses within timescales set by the Company. These training courses include but are not limited to; Wind Turbine Safety Rules, Electrical Part 1 & 2, High Voltage Switching Level 1, and all relevant refresher courses.

Person Specificiation

•    Minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ Qualification in Electrical or Engineering
•    Time served apprentice
•    Previous experience working in an electrical or engineering role within a commercial setting
•    Previous experience in a similar role within the wind sector would be benefical
•    Proficient using IT packages, including Microsoft Excel
•    Full, clean driving licence

•    Physically fit with ability to work at height
•    Have a positive, pro-active approach to working in a team environment 
•    Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills

  • Your hours of work are 7.30 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday with on-call cover at weekends, on a Rota basis.
  • Overtime is paid at 1.5 x basic salary
