ENERCON is seeking a skilled and motivated Wind Turbine Technician to join our team and contribute to the installation and commissioning of wind turbine farms across Canada. In this role, you will collaborate with our Project Management team to deliver exceptional wind energy solutions while ensuring the successful installation and operation of ENERCON wind turbines.
As a key member of our team, you will handle the mechanical installation and commissioning of turbines, ensuring they are fully operational and ready to generate clean energy. Additionally, you will guide and train contractor crews, maintaining ENERCON’s high standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
This is a travel-intensive position with assignments across Canadian provinces and occasional international opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Commissioning:
- Perform mechanical tasks such as tower erection and turbine assembly.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain ENERCON-specific tools and equipment.
- Assist with electrical tasks under the supervision of certified tradespeople.
- Supervision & Training:
- Train and provide technical guidance to contractor crews.
- Ensure compliance with ENERCON’s quality control standards and health and safety requirements.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Complete work reports and document non-conformances.
- Track damages, missteps, and missing materials.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Participate in planning, scheduling, and coordination meetings.
- Collaborate with technical support teams to resolve challenges.
Requirements
- Education & Certification:
- Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Wind Turbine Technician, or Renewable Energy Technician certificate.
- Red Seal certification in a related trade is an asset.
- GWO tower rescue and forklift training certificates are assets.
- Experience:
- 3–7 years of experience in wind turbine installation, renewable energy, or a similar industry.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong technical skills in interpreting instructions and mechanical documents.
- Proficiency in lifting and rigging operations.
- Knowledge of LOTO procedures and SAP systems.
- Other Requirements:
- Fluent in English (French is an asset).
- Comfortable working at heights with the necessary physical capabilities.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Canada and occasionally internationally.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
