ENERCON have a new opportunity for a Grid Operations Officer to join our GB based Grid Operations team.

The role of Grid Operations Officer

Our Grid Operations Officer can be based anywhere in GB with travel, or you can be based on a hybrid-basis from our Inverness, Edinburgh or Huntingdon offices.

 

You will work closely with the Technical and Electrical Manager to continue to develop the future of the Grid Operations department, including its systems, processes, policies and personnel.  You will also provide vital support and expertise to other departments to help achieve our Company objectives.

 

Your main tasks and responsibilities

  • Ensure that all necessary repairs and faults associated with HV equipment, including Switchgear and transformers, are rectified efficiently and within the timescales required
  • Carry out the fault diagnosis associated with repairs, ordering necessary materials and labour.
  • Faultfinding and repairs of any LV equipment associated with, and necessary for the safe operation of the HV equipment e.g. remote box, protection relay etc.
  • To liaise as necessary with owners, operators, technicians, DNOs etc.; both in the UK, ROI, & Germany
  • After training and gaining supervised experience, act in the role of the Switching Control Engineer for the UK; for both existing sites and first energisations
  • Operate the software systems necessary to exercise all tasks within his or her area of responsibility
  • To organise and ensure that all HV equipment and associated LV equipment is inspected and maintained as required by law and ENERCON’s own procedures
  • Produce, or assist in the production of, all documentation necessary for carrying out work to such equipment safely
  • Operate within ENERCON Electrical Safety Rules (EESR).
  • Suggest improvements to processes and protocols as required as required. Implementation of said improvements in co-operation with the Technical Manager
  • Create and execute any HV training to Technicians and others; on all aspects of EESR
  • Ensure that all record keeping is accurate and up to date e.g. correction of SLDs
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with other departments and employees.

 

The professional qualifications and qualities that we look for

  • Level 3 in Electronic / Electrical Engineering or, HNC Electrical engineering, or equivalent professional qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience of the operation, maintenance and repair of HV switchgear and transformers.
  • IOSH or equivalent safety qualification
  • C&G 6037 or equivalent experience as an AP/SAP (desirable)
  • IEE Wiring regulations 18th edition
  • Good knowledge of DNO working practices
  • Experience in writing and approving safe working procedures
  • An understanding and ability to interpret technical schematics
  • Highly organised and have the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with multiple stakeholders

 

What we offer you

  • Your basic salary is £42,000 to £45,000 per annum, plus overtime.
  • Your hours of work are 7.30 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. You will be required to be on-call at weekends on a Rota basis.
  • Overtime is paid at 1.5 x basic salary
  • An overnight allowance is applicable when you are required to travel
