Regional Environment and Sustainability Manager

Enercon is looking for an Environment and Sustainability manager for the Western-Europe region.

The objective of this function is the development and successful implementation of global requirements within the region relating to environmental, CSRD and Global HSES Compliance requirements. This will include engaging relevant functions and departments to ensure that all legal, global and regional CSRD requirements are put in place, recorded and are auditable. This role will be responsible for delivering upon a new set of requirements set out in the Global HSES Plan from 2025. It will implement and develop environmental and sustainability topics and ensure the region meets its legal requirements for CSRD compliance.

 

Description of tasks

 

  • Support the direction and promotion of the company in building and engaging a proactive safety culture.
  • Provide support to the Regional HSES Director and interface with Global HSES department
  • Lead implementation of both global CSRD requirements in the region; and lead new Environmental initiatives identified in the region
  • Focal point for the region for CSRD, including roll-out, access to and use of/recording information in 3rd party systems.
  • Support the Regional HSES Director in advising regional management on CSRD and Environmental objectives, targets and metrics
  • Act as regional focal point for Environmental and CSRD
  • Support countries with Dangerous Goods 
  • Based on regulatory and/or legislative compliance, adapt or ensure adaptation of the ENERCON minimum standards to the region/affected countries
  • Leverage support and action from appropriate departments in the development and recording of the ENERCON Sustainability data; Sustainability report
  • Identify and monitor regulatory changes in the area of Environment and Sustainability that can affect the company’s operations in the region, and initiate appropriate engagement and/or mitigation strategies
  • Develop and supervise projects in the area of Environment and Sustainability (e.g. recycling, circular economy, biodiversity, etc.) and ensure that the data necessary for the Sustainability report is provided by the region
  • Participate in the creation of internal communications about Environmental or Sustainability related incidents, lessons learned and best practices, in close alignment with the other regions and Global HSES
  • Along with HSES Management Team, deputise for the HSES Director during holidays or other periods of absence
  • Maintain an open communication with the Regional HSES Director, Global HSES and country teams to ensure alignment and to ensure consistent implementation of project requirements, ENERCON HSES processes and local legal requirements
  • Maintain an effective working relationship and dialogue with HSES staff in each country, leverage support and resources within the countries to participate in regional Environmental and CSRD topics

 

Functional requirements

 

  • Relevant Environmental or Sustainability knowledge and understanding of key occupational safety topics with relevant experience
  • Extensive knowledge of CSRD and Environmental Management
  • Extensive knowledge of European legislation and international agreements
  • Knowledge of relevant HSES legislation of one or more countries in the region (France, Netherlands, Belgium, UK)
  • Strong organisational and project management capabilities
  • Ability to present complex topics and concepts simply to a broad audience
  • Ability to balance time sensitive priorities efficiently and navigate cross-cultural boundaries
  • Strong ability to affect change, with experience in implementing HSES initiatives and strategies
  • Highly articulate with excellent written and verbal communication skills in French, Dutch and English
  • Leadership skills, in particular engaging other leaders at the frontline
  • Strong decision making abilities
  • Ideally experience in both Construction and O&M activities within the Onshore Wind sector, Oil and Gas or other relevant heavy industry
  • You are based in Belgium
