We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Blade Repair Wind Turbine Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing wind turbine blades to ensure their optimal performance and longevity. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed inspections of wind turbine blades to identify damage, wear, and other issues.
- Conduct repairs on wind turbine blades, including fiberglass, composite, and structural repairs.
- Utilize a variety of tools and equipment to carry out blade repairs, including sanding, grinding, and bonding materials.
- Apply protective coatings and finishings to repaired areas to ensure durability and weather resistance.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to develop and implement effective repair strategies.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with industry best practices and technological advancements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in composite material repair, preferably in the wind energy industry.
- Strong understanding of wind turbine blade construction and repair techniques.
- Proficient with hand and power tools used in blade repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Physical ability to climb wind turbines and work at heights up to 300 feet.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various sites as required.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
- IRATA/SPRAT rope access training considered an asset
Work Environment:
- The role requires working at significant heights, often in challenging weather conditions.
- Frequent travel to different wind turbine sites across Canada.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
