ENERCON Ireland are now recruiting for a Grid Operations Engineer to be based in Tralee, Co. Kerry or within a weekly commutable distance of Tralee.

 

Responsibilities for role:

  • Authorise, supervise and perform switching operations as a Switching authorised dispatcher
  • Support in ensuring compliance with current legislation for HV electrical works in Ireland
  • Organise materials and labour to carry out repairs to MV/HV equipment
  • First level on fault analysis and technical support for Scada (as a substitute)
  • Involvement in Scada installs on site on upcoming projects/refits. (as a substitute)
  • Liaise as necessary with owners, operators, technicians etc, including customer meetings
  • On completion of training & gaining supervised experience, take on the duties of the Switching Control Engineer for UK and IE; for both existing sites and first energisations
  • Operate relevant software, databases etc associated with the role
  • Ensure all MV/HV equipment and associated LV equipment, is inspected and maintained as required by law, and ENERCON’s own procedures.
  • Create and revise required documentation, record keeping where required in cooperation with the Grid Operations department.
  • Assist technicians with fault fixes and breakdowns through checks, tests and observations of technicians on site.
  • Ensuring technicians are aware of the most up to date work practices and instructions through early and clear communication.
  • Support and administration of hardware and software updates and maintenance performances.
  • Participation in weekend on call rota if required.
  • Support Scada Department as substitute during annual leave etc.
  • Stock control

Requirements for Role:

  • Electrical Trade qualification or electrical degree is essential
  • At least four years Wind turbine experience is essential
  • Experienced in SCADA monitoring, fault resolution is a distinct advantage
  • Commitment to move to AE status if required by the business, within 6 months of start of role
  • Good IT Skills
  • Team player & Good communicator
  • Highly organised individual with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to write technical reports and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload without supervision
  • Ability to show initiative and flexibility with workload, including weekend oncall work
  • Travel nationwide for training, resolution of technical matters is expected regularly
  • Travel to abroad for training, workshops is expected
